On Tuesday 16th May, DragonFly welcomed two new First Officers to the team, having successful passed the companies first ‘in house’ type rating courses as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO).
DragonFly has operated the Beech King Air 200 since its formation in 2004, which makes us one of the most experienced operators of the type in the UK. Therefore, it made perfect sense for the company to become a UK CAA ATO, which enables the company to train its own, and external pilots on the aircraft. We teamed up with the Finnish Aviation Academy in Pori, Finland to use their Full Flight Simulator (FFS) to deliver the intensive 14 hour practical course.
This was closely followed by a conversion to the actual aircraft back in the UK, at the companies base at Cardiff Airport. The candidates each completed 6 landings with the training manager before being officially signed off to fly passengers, alongside our experienced Captains.
Dragonfly looks forward to continuing to train future candidates on the King Air, and we wish our new starters Sayed and Charlie the best of luck as they begin their flying careers with us.
